As an Islamic Social Services organization, Madinah Food Pantry strives to assure everything we distribute to needy families is 100% Halal. As such we only distribute Islamically slaughtered hand cut (Dhabihah) meats. Of particular concern for us is the introduction of machine slaughtered meats from non-Muslim purveyors into the Muslim community. The idea that machine slaughtered chickens is halal is a recent phenomenon. It has become increasing difficult to find a restaurant that doesn’t serve Waynes’s farm or Koch Brothers machine slaughtered so-called “halal” chicken from Restaurant Depot. Some Muslim owned meat stores are also selling this chicken from Restaurant Depot. One noted exception is Al Barak Halal Meat with two locations serving the greater Metro Atlanta area.
