The command to pay fiyda is for the Shaykh al Faani. The Shaykh al Faani is the individual who is unable to fast due to advanced old age. Fasting itself would cause such an individual to become ill and possibly lead to death. This also applies to the youth under similar circumstances. Some organizations have suggested as low as $5.00 per meal. This is unrealistic in the United States . Those eligible to pay Fidya should have a meal prepared to their own standards. Taking into account the meal they would prefer under the same circumstances. Those who have the means can deliver two full meals to the smaller masaajid. Many larger Islamic Organizations usually have food leftover. The average cost of a "full Halal meal" in todays economy is $15.00. This would amount to $30.00 per day if not preparing the meal onself. It is encouraged to actualy feed a fasting person as oppposed to giving money.

As salaam alaikum.  Ramadhan Mubarak. We are already in the middle of this blessed month of Ramadhan. We would like to take a moment to thank everyone thus far that has cooked food to feed fasting people and who had donated foods or funds to feed others in need. In some communities and smaller masjids these meals and food packages are truly a blessing. Masjid Hamzah sisterhood group from Alpharetta has been cooking throughout the year to feed others as well as during Ramadhan, Alhamdullilah.

Also every Ramadhan Nurul Academy in Roswell cooks enough food to feed at least 200 people. Last night we feed groups in two different areas for iftar.  Alhamdullilah. Also sister Sahar in Alpharetta has a catering business with authentic Egyptian cuisine called A Taste of Egypt with absolutely delicious foods.

We also have individual families that feed others every Ramadan both individual families needing iftar and larger groups needing iftar. May Allah subhana wa ta Ala bless and reward them all and all of our donors for helping to feed our local community. Ameen.

It was narrated from Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.”

As salaam alaikum. Ramadan Mubarak. We have families requesting iftar meals especially Monday through Thursday. Many masjids in low income areas are not hosting iftar meals every night. Some only on the weekends for families fortunate enough to be in walking distance of a masjid. We have requests for tonight for individual families and the next two weeks Monday night through Thursday night. Maximize your baraka by feeding a fasting believer

Anyone wishing to sponsor a family the cost is 75 per family. Iftar meals include an  appetizer, main meal, dessert and drink. All families are zakat eligible. Any funds can be sent via zelle or venmo using 678-446-8737 or via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. thru Bank of America transfer. You can also use the Lillahi Donation module on the left to donate. Jazak Allah khair.
